The reviewer gave this recipe 4 stars. This recipe averages a 4.4 star rating. I stir-fry all the time, and I thought this was delicious, but the cooking times a methods needed a little tweeking! I always blanch my veggies for about 4 minutes in boiling water (everything that is raw, even the celery and onions) and then run cold water over them as soon as they come out of the water. This makes them nice and crisp-tender. Also, the heat should be on almost the hottest setting and preheated well before adding the pork or chicken (I used teriyaki-marinated pork tenderloin sliced thinly). Stir-fry meat for about 3 or 4 minutes, just until no longer pink, then add garlic (I also added fresh ginger at this point) and oyster sauce and cook for 1-2 minutes before adding the blanched veggies. Cook until everything is heated through, then add the water/cornstarch mixture and any canned veggies (I used baby corn and canned bean sprouts) and cook for 1 more minute until sauce is thick. Stir-fry cooks very quickly, so have everything ready and set up on your counter to be tossed right in when needed! I served this over rice, and it was a big hit! Was this review helpful? [ YES ]

This recipe averages a 4.4 star rating. I tried this recipe a couple of nights ago for dinner, but instead of adding the meat, I used just with the veggies as I already had my meat planned and was looking to stir fry some veggies as my side dish. This turned out to be excellent, I didn't use all the veggies called for as I didn't have everything, so improvised with broccoli, bean sprouts, mushrooms, gr onions, yellow peppers and celery. Luckily it's very forgiving and will adapt well with what you have in the fridge! The only other thing I cahnged was not using the mushroom soy sauce (did not have and have actually never even looked for it). I used just regular reduced sodium soy and it turned out great. I didn't add the salt either and was glad as I found that this recipe did not need the additional salt. Hubby and I both really enjoyed, thanks for sharing! Was this review helpful? [ YES ]

The reviewer gave this recipe 5 stars. This recipe averages a 4.4 star rating. Fabulous!!! I added too much teriyaki sauce, so it was a bit salty, so beware that "a thin layer" really does mean a thin layer. I cooked the chicken all the way through before adding to the pizza and it was still tender! I also forgot to add the pineapple (oops!) but I added sweet red pepper which was delicious! Also I would recommend a sweet, red onion because I didn't think that was overpowering at all!!! I would highly recommend this recipe! Addendum: After making this recipe for awhile, this is still a family favorite! I use Pillsbury pizza crust, cook it at 450 for 7 minutes without toppings, then add the toppings (fully cooked chicken, raw onion, raw red peppers, pineapple, sauce, cheddar cheese, mozzerella cheese) and cook at 350 for about 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly. The lower temperature allows the veggies to cook. I use the Kikkoman Baste and Glaze teriyaki sauce, which works perfectly! Was this review helpful? [ YES ]

Roast: Stuffed Crown Roast of Pork | Submitted By: Holly

3 tablespoons butter3/4 cup chopped onion1/4 cup chopped celery1/2 cup peeled, cored and chopped tart apple1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs1 pound ground pork1/2 pound ground seasoned pork sausage1/2 cup chopped parsley1/2 teaspoon dried sage1 1/2 teaspoons salt1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper9 pounds crown pork roastPreheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). To Make Stuffing: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When foam subsides add onion and saute, stirring frequently, for about 5 minutes. Stir in celery and apples; saute (without browning) about 5 minutes longer. Scrape skillet contents into a large mixing bowl. Add bread crumbs, ground pork, sausage meat, parsley, sage, salt and pepper. Mix together gently but thoroughly. (Note: Do not taste the uncooked stuffing, for it contains raw pork; instead, fry a small ball of the stuffing in the skillet, then taste and season with more salt and pepper as necessary). Fill the center of the crown with the stuffing, mounding it slightly. Cover it with a round of aluminum foil and wrap the ends of the chop bones in strips of foil to prevent them from charring and snapping off. Place the crown on a rack in a shallow roasting pan just large enough to hold it comfortably, and roast in the center of the oven, undisturbed, for about 3 hours or until internal temperature of meat is 175 degrees F (80 degrees C). (Note: 30 minutes before pork is done, remove the foil from the top of the stuffing to allow the top to brown.) Carefully transfer the crown to a large, heated, circular platter, strip the foil from the ends of the chops and replace it with paper frills. Let the crown rest for about 10 minutes before carving and serving. To Carve Pork: Insert a large fork in the side of the crown to steady it and, with a large, sharp knife, cut down through each rib to detach the chops. Two chops per person is a customary portion accompanied by a generous serving of the stuffing. The reviewer gave this recipe 5 stars. This recipe averages a 4.6 star rating. I made these for dinner tonight and they are awesome! Very simple, easy, tasty, and very authentic. My former neighbors had a housekeeper from Central America and these are very much like the tacos she made for us, except she made the corn tortillas by hand, without a press even! Do try to get the highest quality top sirloin that you can find - it does make a difference. I recommend Whole Foods Market all-natural beef, if you have a store in your area. They are a little more expensive but it is worth it for the taste and tenderness. Also, if you don't like hot food, remove all the seeds and veins from the peppers before you chop them. That's where most of the heat comes from. The only thing that I did differently was, like another reviewer, I marinated the sliced steak with a little fresh squeezed lime, salt, and pepper for about 10 or 15 minutes (just long enough to have a Corona) before I seared it, then added a little more salt and pepper after cooking. Also coated my cast iron skillet with a tiny amount of oil, just enough to prevent sticking. Lola, thanks so much for sharing this!!! Was this review helpful? [ YES ]

I did not fry the tortillas, just used them soft. And I cooked my onions with the steak, and then tossed the steak & onions, w/the salt, pepper and lime juice in a bowl and let it sit in the fridge for half an hour. The steak just cooked in oil by itself did not have much taste. Also I added shredded cheddar cheese and put homemade guacamole in my taco. Next time, and I WILL make it again, it was yummy, I will use flank steat b/c the cut the recipe calls for is so much more expensive. Hanukkah Recipes: Seasoned Skewer Roasted Chicken | Submitted By: Callisons Fine Foods, recipe developed by Kathy Casey

6 Callisons Holiday Herb Seasoned Skewers1 (4 pound) roasting chicken, preferably organic or free-range1 tablespoon melted butter or olive oil1 teaspoon kosher salt1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepperCooking sprayRemove the neck and any giblets from the chicken cavity. Rinse the chicken with cold water inside and out, and pat dry. Insert 2 skewers, lengthwise, through each side of the breast and then 2 through the legs and thighs. With the last 2 skewers, insert them into each side of the breast, crisscrossing the first skewers. Let sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes or refrigerated overnight. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. To roast the chicken, spray a roasting rack with cooking spray. Place the chicken on the prepared roasting rack and set on a rimmed baking sheet. Brush the chicken all over with the butter or olive oil and then sprinkle with the salt and pepper. Roast the chicken for about 45 minutes, or until the inner, thickest part of the thigh registers 160 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer inserted in the back side of thigh by the body. Remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes to allow the juices to settle before carving. Remove skewers before carving or serving. The chicken is beautiful presented on a platter and carved at the table. Amount Per Serving  Calories: 596 | Total Fat: 37.1g | Cholesterol: 202mg Powered by ESHA Nutrient Database

The reviewer gave this recipe 5 stars. This recipe averages a 4.6 star rating. Reviewed on Feb. 9, 2005 by STACIS   view full review I took this to work, for a bake sale, and came away with an empty plate. Everyone loved it, and commented on how moist it was. I tinkered with the recipe a tad, adding the fresh zest of one orange to the batter. Also, going on some of the other reviews, I made a simple glaze of powdered sugar and orange juice, with a little orange zest added in, and drizzled that over the cake. Yum!! Was this review helpful?
