My Chinese Recipes - How to Make Apple Toffee
I would like to introduce a Chinese dessert made by - Apple Toffee.
Everybody knows apple is good to our health. We can buy apple easily in the market or fruit stores throughout the year. Besides, all other ingredients of this Apple Toffee are also common that you may even already have them in your kitchen. Therefore, you can try this Apple Toffee any time at home.
Most of my friends are delighted by the crispy and sweet sour taste. You may also consider to use green apple instead of red apple. It is a totally different with the normal way you taste an apple.
Ingredients:
- 1 red apple
- 1tbsp plain flour
- 2tbsp sesame
Seasonings:
- 4tbsp plain flour
- 4tbsp corn starch
- 1egg (beaten)
- 3tbsp cold water
- Syrup:
- 1 bowl sugar
- 2tbsp oil
Dipper:
- 1 big bowl of ice water with some ice cubes
Method:
1. Mix the seasonings well and let it rest for 30 minutes.
2. Skins the apple; remove seeds and cut into big cubes. Sprinkle with 1tbsp plain flour; then dip apple in seasoning.
3. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry apple until light brown, take out and drain oil.
4. Prepare syrup: heat 2tbsp oil, switch to medium heat, pour in sugar; keep on stirring until sugar turns into syrup. Switch to low heat, coat the apple with syrup.
5 Sprinkle sesame on the apple.
6. Move apple from the pan and dip in the ice water to harden syrup coating, drain and serve immediately.
