What is Chai Tea Latte?
If you have been to a gourmet tea or coffee house in the recent past, you are likely to have encountered these two new items on the menu: chai tea and chai tea latte. You are probably wondering what these concoctions are and whether or not you should give them a try. Read on to find out more about them.
Chai tea is actually a variation of tea that is popular in India. In India, though, it is called ‘Masala chai’, meaning ‘Spiced tea’ or simply ‘chai’, meaning tea. In the west, the term ‘tea’ is tagged on the ‘chai’ (which mean the same thing) to simplify its meaning. What makes ‘chai tea’ different from other varieties of tea is that it is a blend of black tea leaves and a number of different herbs and spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, black pepper, nutmeg, Chinese star anise, ginger and fennel. It is mixed with a little milk as well as sweeteners like sugar or honey to dilute it and cut the strong flavor of the spices. It makes for a very refreshing drink and if you like spices, then you should definitely give it a try. There are very few beverages that contain the flavor of spices and them, after all.
Chai tea latte, on the other hand, is basically the same thing, except that milk is not added to it during its preparation. Instead, milk that is steamed from an espresso maker is added to it after the tea is ready. This adds a layer of soft, fluffy and creamy milk at the top which goes really well with the strong flavor of the chai tea. If you like chai tea, you will just love chai tea latte.
Should you try it? Sure, you should. There are just too many health benefits that chai tea offers which simply cannot be ignored. Apart from long term benefits, you will feel refreshed, revitalized and clear minded. It has immediate effect on cold, cough and sore throat symptoms. It will help also calm your system.
